OUR PHILOSOPY

St. John’s Preschool provides a stimulating and caring environment for all children including those with special needs. Our program supports the development of emotional, physical, cognitive and social skills that will prepare children to enter kindergarten. The children will develop these skills through play based learning experiences.

QUALIFIED STAFF

           

Ø  Minimum 2 staff members per session plus volunteer(s) and/or a duty parent

Ø  Program Assistant depending on the needs of the children in the class

Ø  All staff are trained in First Aid and CPR

Ø  Ratio of children to adults is approximately 4-1

Ø  All children are included in all activities to the best of their abilities

Ø  Regular visits by Perth County Children’s Resource Consultant

Ø  All staff are experienced working in an inclusive program

 

OUR PROGRAMME

 

Ø  Maximum of 16 children per session between the ages of 2.5-5 years (three 2-2.5 year olds per session allowed)

Ø  Children attend between 2 and 9 sessions per week, based on the child’s needs, parent requests and availability of space

Ø  Weekly themes, calendar time, gym/outside playground time, snack time, free play, crafts, language and learning circle

Ø  Monthly visits from Stratford Public Librarian

Ø  Children may be assessed to identify learning strengths and challenges and referrals to community services as needed

 

DUTY PARENT

 

**Reduced rates**

**Duty responsibilities include:

Assist teachers in classroom

Sanitizing toys

Preschool laundry

Coordinating fundraising events

Duty coordinator

Organizing Scholastic Book Orders

 

VOLUNTEER POSITIONS:

Call the Preschool regarding volunteer opportunities such as:

Ø  Food/snack preparation

Ø  Assisting teachers and one on one assistance to children

Ø  Student co-op placement

Ø  General repairs and light cleaning duties

 

CHILDCARE COSTS

 

A reasonable fee schedule is provided to parents.

If applicable, fees may be subsidized by the City of Stratford.
